I hope that many of you know that mass media can’t be relied upon to actually report things that are NEWS. They’d rather keep you distracted with irrelevant bullshit such as the latest on the scandal involving Penn Statefootball coach, Jerry Sandusky on child sexual abuse charges and the shortest celebrity marriages in history.

Back on March 24, 2012, the progressive news site Activist Post published a report on the backroom deal that President Obama made with the largest telecommunications companies, Internet Service Providers, cable/satellite television providers, corporations that own the publishing rights to recorded music, and Hollywood movie studios in the United States. The article was entitled “10 Reasons Why Nothing You Do On The Internet Will Ever Be Private Again”.

I’ll save you having to read the entire article by just pointing your attention to reason #9. Stop mental masturbation for a few moments and PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

#9 Your ISP Is Watching You
Most Americans have not even heard about this yet, but the truth is that starting later on this year your ISP will be spying on you to make sure that you are not downloading any copyrighted material.

SOPA and PIPA may have failed for now, but the Obama administration has brokered a deal between the entertainment industry and the major Internet providers that is absolutely unprecedented.  This deal will go into effect on July 12th.  The following is from a recent Raw Story article….

If you download potentially copyrighted software, videos or music, your Internet service provider (ISP) has been watching, and they’re coming for you.

Specifically, they’re coming for you on Thursday, July 12.

That’s the date when the nation’s largest ISPs will all voluntarily implement a new anti-piracy plan that will engage network operators in the largest digital spying scheme in history, and see some users’ bandwidth completely cut off until they sign an agreement saying they will not download copyrighted materials.

Word of the start date has been largely kept secret since ISPs announced their plans last June. The deal was brokered by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and coordinated by the Obama Administration.

So be careful what you download on the Internet.

Your ISP will be watching.

Got it? July 9th (which means to stop downloading stuff by bit torrent on or by July 8th). Enough said?

Word to the wise.

Here is another article  talking about it.

April Winchell of Regretsy.com started a secret santa fundraiser for 200 families who are currently in circumstances that have left them just scraping by and unable to provide even the simplest of joys for their kids during this holiday season.

The members of regretsy not only met the donation goal, they surpassed it by several thousand dollars in mere hours, making it so April would not only be able to make the gift drive happen, she would be able to give a small monetary donation to each family that they could use for bills, groceries, etc.

Unfortunately, PayPal decided to freeze April’s account and hold the rest of her funds due to their claim that the “donate” button is for non-profit use only, despite it not saying anywhere that it was a non-profit only button.

While a good majority of the donations were already processed, PayPal is requiring April to manually refund the remaining donations, all while PayPal takes a chunk of each as a transaction fee. April unable to give the monetary donation to the individual families as well due to this.

Sign on change.org to tell paypal to unfreeze April’s account.

Flood PayPal’s facebook page with lovely messages.

Spread this everywhere. Twitter, facebook, news stations, everything.

Reblog this!

I know I have precisely one follower, but it’s worth a shot that this will get on people’s dashboard via tags and it will continue to spread. Paypal is ruining Christmas for 200 families and their children and the hard efforts of a community of people. That isn’t what the holiday spirit is about.

Not totally political but we’re big fans of Regretsy around here. Spread the word and sign the petition.

-Joe

I caught this on Regretsy last night, it’s a fucking nightmare.

This is absolutely abominable. Reblog the fuck outta this, guys. PayPal needs to feel the heat for what they’re pulling here.

this is fucking insane and I am revolted.

The Internet has turned everyone I know into cowards and it is a damn shame.

catsandgirlsandspaceships:

The Internet has turned everyone I know into cowards and it is a damn shame. I remember once asking my dad when I was young why more people didn’t murder with their hands because it seemed so much cleaner and he said,

“Anyone can shoot someone, but when you’re close enough to strangle someone, close enough to feel the struggle, the blood stopping, the smell, close enough to see the light leave their eyes and feel the spit fly off their lips, that’s a different kind of murder and most people don’t have the guts to pull it off.”

I often think about this conversation and what it means. Most people who kill with bullets might not have committed the crime had they been forced to kill with their hands. I think this kind of compares to people taking shots over the internet rather than face to face. It takes a lot of guts and a LOT of consideration to confront someone in person. Usually, by the time you are finished mulling over whether to bitch this person out or what you are going to say you decide to back down. Decide that it’s not worth your trouble after all.

The internet is quick and clean, like a bullet. No thinking just shooting. It’s easy and anyone can do it. Any coward can hide behind their computer or phone as easily as they can hide behind a barrel of a gun.

Bottom line, a coward gaining strength without gaining courage is the downfall of humanity. Be a man. Grow a large, strong pair and don’t let the cowards win. Beating them is as quick and easy as stabbing a motherfucker with a shank made out of a melted down shard of a cafeteria tray. Goodnight.

Truth in the digital sea of bullshit.
